Rally to End the War in Yemen
November 30, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
With US military support, the Saudi-Led Coalition has blockaded Yemen’s ports and stopped the flow of food, medicine, fuel, and clean water into the country. What has resulted is the worst man made humanitarian disaster on the planet right now with over a million cases of cholera and 14 million people on the brink of famine. Congress has never authorized U.S. military involvement in Yemen and it’s long overdue for the Legislative branch to have a floor vote on this matter.
We will be rallying in Federal Plaza Nov 30th at 11am to end US involvement in in the Saudi war on Yemen. At this event, we will be laying out 44 backpacks to symbolize the lives of the 44 Yemeni children who lost their lives because of a Lockheed Martin missile launched by a Saudi warplane on August 7th 2018. The US has been complicit in war crimes in Yemen for years and it’s time to cut support. There will be several guest speakers including Yemen born activist and scholar Shireen Al-Adeimi and Kathy Kelly of Voices for Creative Nonviolence.
We hope this rally helps people learn about the conflict and gets them to pressure congress to stop the war. The House and Senate are voting on two bills in the coming weeks. If passed, SJRes54 and HConRes138 would end US military involvement in Saudi Arabia’s War on Yemen. Please ask your rep and senators to cosponsor by calling 1833STOPWAR.
Hope you can make it 11/30!
