Boycott Black Friday #4: CPAC now!
November 23, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Join CAARPR for the 4th Black Friday Boycott rally on the Mag Mile!
The first boycott sent the powers that be into a tailspin. Thousands of people not only taking to the streets but shutting down the biggest shopping day of the year angered Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s wealthy friends and forced the Mayor to bend to the movement for justice. It was our continued pressure that led to the removal of those responsible for the cover up of the murder of Laquan McDonald. And it was this movement that organized and demanded the conviction of Jason Van Dyke.
But our work isn’t finished. CPD continues to terrorize the city’s Black and brown communities. The Police Board’s decision to reinstate Officer Brandon Ternand, who shot and murdered Dakota Bright in 2012 from a distance of 50 feet as the unarmed 15-year-old was running away, shows the utter bankruptcy of the current system and the necessity for an all-elected Civilian Police Accountability Council (CPAC).
CAARPR is calling for all CPAC supporters to come out for the 4th Black Friday Boycott at 10am on the Mag Mile. We aren’t finished until Dakota Bright’s killer is held accountable. We aren’t finished until we see justice for ALL victims of police murder. We aren’t finished until we have community control of the police to put an end to police violence for good!
